Tuesday, July 5th

The youth continued work on many of the sites they had already started.  A group continued with the painting at the Salvation Army.  How awesome does that red wall look!

The morning team at the house built steps to replace the porch that was originally there, and started installing patio stones.

Some young ladies entertained the elderly church members at this particular church/food bank on their lunch break.
They painted the board and batten on the church exterior.

Power washing the front steps porch of the church.

Another group continued work at the Foodbank Distribution Centre, unloading a truckload of food that was brought in.

Filling up the freezers with meat products.

 Stocking shelves.

A new team arrived in the afternoon to continue laying patio stones, finish off the steps as well as some repair work to the flower beds.

They also added and caulked a storm window.

The owners of the home were delighted with the work at the groups finished.

After the praise team Mark asked the students to share the Rose and the Thorn of their day.
As a demonstration/ experiment Mark asked 4 students to wear signs that showed that they were not allowed to speak and could only follow the instructions of their leader for a portion of the afternoon.  They were then asked to share how they felt during the evening service, and they shared that they felt like outcasts and  how people looked at them was even worse than what was said.  A lot of the other youth responded that they didn't know how to help or what to do.  Others wanted to help but unable because of the restrictions placed on the youth.  Mark pointed out that we will face many situations in real life where you won't know what to do or be able to help, we just need to be there for them.  We can have peace in bringing unity to those on the margins.
