Happy Independence Day to our fellow Americans!  This morning the students were awoken with a (not so) rousing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.

At breakfast we had another game of 'Minute to Win it' with students who left personal possessions behind.  They were challenged to balance 5 dice on a Popsicle stick held in their mouth.

It was another full day at the work sites.  One group continued the painting work at the Salvation Army centre.

The flower beds were moved by the deck that was taken down on Saturday.

Two other groups were supposed to help some mental health patients clean their apartments, however when the teams arrived at their sites was not home to let the health worker in (it turns out he was home) and another was so overwhelmed by the size of the group that would be entering his home.  It was amazing to see how well the youth handled this situation.  One group cleaned part of the home with just a few youth, while the other team took the rest of the youth on a prayer walk through the town they were in.  Extra work was then quickly found for the youth at the Foodbank Distribution Centre were a third team was already working.  They loaded a trailer full of food, created donation boxes for the grocery stores, and boxed up items.

A few teams also visited Streetlight Ministries in London, talking to the homeless and seeing where and how they live.

When it comes to leaving personal possesions behind, we don't discriminate.  Mark, the speaker, Rob, the Host team Co-Coordinator and a student all had to sing 'Row, Row, Row your boat' with the actions in order to get their stuff back.

The students also requested to have a talent show, and we announced that we would hold one Wednesday night.  We offered to try to help them get access to any musical instrument or other items that they might need, and one youth jokingly asked for an accordian.  The band started their worship with an awesome performance with Scott pulling out his accordian.

A short stout Abraham Lincoln stopped by and disturbed the peace by making them sit with people they may not have had a little contact with so far.

Mark started this evening off by asking the all of us wher we saw God today, and gave the students opportunity to come up and share.

Mark, then spoke on the topic Peace is Home although pointed out that for many home isn't peace.  He then asked us to focus on a place that means peace to us.  He then read the Max Lucado book Punchinello and asked the students to name some 'grey dots' that people may be labeled with.

As the book explains, when we turn to God and we have God's peace the labels, the grey dots and the shiny stars, don't matter anymore and they no longer stick to the peace we have.
