Sunday, July 3rd

After breakfast we started the morning by taking a group picture.

Shortly after they joined the congregation for the morning Worship service.

A commissioning litany with our SERVE participants

Mark spoke on peace is a status.  As Christians we believe that faith is by grace, not by works.  Mark related that similarly peace is not something we earn but is a gift from God.

If students leave behind any of their personal possessions during the week they have to participate in the 'Minute to Win it' Challenge before one of the meal times at the church.  These youth had to place a cracker on their forehead and get it into their mouth using only their faces.

After lunch the groups were sent on a scavenger hunt around to 13 'exciting' locations in Clinton.  They were sent to various sites like the radar antenna, Sloman School Car, Lil's Kitchen (the best food in town), Dixy Lee (need some fast food?), the tourist booth, the library, the casino, the fairground grand stand, and a corn field.  (We know, Clinton is VERY exciting!)  As well they were given the red paper clip challenge, trading it up along the way to see what they could end up with.

After that they went around to various stations doing group building sites.
This was a name memory game, to help everyone remember names.

They wrapped duct tape around a participant and placed as many balloons as possible on them in a set time frame.  then they had to pop the balloons and count how many their team had.

Roll a 6, put on the gear and try to eat some chocolate.

Pass the slippery soap in front of the group, and then back behind the group to see which team could get the most number of soap bars in their dry bucket.

The leaders of each group was given a pair of enormous shorts to wear over top of their clothes.  The youth then had to toss water balloons into the shorts.

After supper they had their evening worship service.  There was lots of praise and worship.  Mark spoke on Matthew 10: 34-39, our own personal freedom yet that as Christians Jesus is the ultimate authority in our lives and we need to live for him.  He chose a student and demonstrated the choices they might have to make, like hobbies, work and relationships.
